About the Author of the Site

Hi — I’m Élise Dubois, founder and editor of Dmdrums Co. I’m a drummer, educator, and recording enthusiast with over a decade of experience playing across styles from jazz and funk to rock and electronic production. I launched this blog to share practical rhythm knowledge, hands-on gear insight, and creative approaches to drumcraft that actually work in the studio and on stage.

As a teacher I’ve coached students of all ages and levels, from beginners finding their first groove to advanced players refining time, feel and independence. My lesson content focuses on musicality as much as technique: pocket, dynamics, phrasing and how to translate practice into performance. You’ll find clear, structured lessons and exercises designed to improve timing and musical expression.

I’m also active in the studio as a session drummer and producer. I love exploring recording techniques, mic choices, processing and workflow that help drummers cut through a mix while preserving natural tone. On Dmdrums Co I break down recording tips, signal chains, and practical tricks that make a real difference to your drum sound.

Gear is another passion — from classic kits and sticks to electronic pads and hybrid setups. I write honest, hands-on reviews covering playability, build, sound and value so you can make informed choices. I test equipment in real musical contexts and share comparisons and long-term impressions rather than just spec lists.

Groove creation and composition are at the heart of what I do. You’ll find grooves, fills and creative ideas to inspire practice and songwriting, plus transcriptions and play-alongs to help you internalize new patterns. I also publish interviews with players, producers and engineers to bring diverse perspectives on rhythm, creativity and career paths.

My approach is practical, musical and encouraging: small, focused changes often yield the biggest improvements. Whether you’re a drummer, beatmaker, or producer, I aim to give you usable techniques, honest reviews, and creative prompts to elevate your timing, sound and expression.

Thanks for visiting Dmdrums Co — explore the Lessons, Gear Reviews, Grooves, Recording, Technique and Interviews sections, and feel free to reach out with questions, collaboration ideas or topics you’d like me to cover. Let’s make better beats together.
