DM DRUMS "MOON" SNARE
Customer report from November 2004
by Paul Taylor
What can I say about the finished moon snare drum!! First
class comes to mind, the finish is superb, a lot of time and thought has gone
into the build and the quality of the shell inside and out and is blinding!!!
The photos are brilliant and are really eye catching.
I received the drum on Friday night and the next day, I was due in the studio to
record our demo cd, so I was up pretty late Friday night! I set the kit up on
the Saturday morning, the sound engineer set up all the mics, after
soundchecking for about 45 minutes, he said; "Come in and have a listen to a
playback of that last number." I went into his little booth and bloody hell what
a knockout sound from the Moonie snare!
I am chuffed to bits guys, thanks a lot!

DM DRUMS REPRODUCTION 10" 'SOUNDWAVE' TOM
Customer report from April 2004
by Pete Jeffries
DM DRUMS have executed a fine job in providing me with a
10" "Soundwave" tom where there wasn't one previously.
Explanation: I've always been a fan of concert toms, and the genuine late 70's
early 80's Soundwave SL2 in my possession was a real find. Consisting of
13/14/15/16/18/22 it’s somewhat of a monster. I wanted to edge towards smaller
sizes whilst retaining the lovely Soundwave kit. Enter Mike Ellis of DM DRUMS. I
sent Mike the 14 so he could commandeer the genuine 2 tone wrap, the lugs, rare
plinths, nut boxes, tom mount box. Mike sourced a genuine Premier undersize (As
in keeping with Premiers' build of the time) 10" shell and went about making the
transformation. This wasn’t as easy as it sounds, as the width on the 2 tone
"STRIPES” actually increase in ratio with the size of each tom. Some
measurements later, after being sent on to Mike, and a bit of a juggle with a
calculator, one 10" Soundwave tom, using period materials, drops through my door
at a price too embarrassing to even mention. I went to school with Mike’s
granddad so I got a price to make me blush. All in all a fine job. It looks like
it was meant to be there. Even the Premier badge from the 14 made the transition
without a scratch. The tom also featured a new hoop in the price - what can I
say?

Now I’m planning on an 18" Soundwave Bass Drum. This will make the 22 and its 25 year old wrap and hardware redundant along with the 15 which I don’t use. Means Mike has some period materials to work with. It’s not easy to get hold of Soundwave original wrap + hardware as it was only production for about 3 years.

I will be having some more work done by DM DRUMS in the
future. I must remember to tell Mike at DM DRUMS that I was in the WRAF with his
Grandma.
